You have inspired me to move forward with several plans that I believe will better the world. Thank you for helping me move those plans from imagination into consensus reality. Keep up the great work!

Change Yourself, Change the World

Make a real impact with mindfulness techniques and social change tools.

You want to make a positive impact on the world, and you’ve got an issue or two in your sights. Maybe you’re passionate about fighting climate change, building community, or ending structural racism. The systems we live in reward abiding by the status quo, and discourage efforts to make real changes. Mindfulness meditation can help you convert confusion and paralysis into confidence and clarity. Most mindfulness instruction is for everybody, but you’re not just anybody: you’re committed to genuine transformation. We want to help you build a deep mindfulness practice that fortifies your personal mission of making the world a better place.

To do that, we’ve created a mindfulness course that will give you:

  • an in-depth talk from Soryu Forall, head teacher at the Center for Mindful Learning, revealing how what we call Awakening and Responsibility support each other [MP3]
  • a compact guide to mindfulness meditation and social change. You’ll gain techniques for building a powerful meditation practice, learn practical strategies for enacting transformative social change, and gain insight into uniting inner growth with outward action [PDF / Google Docs]
  • a guided meditation, delivered by CML Resident and course author Peter Williams [MP3]

You can purchase this course now for $18. Your feedback will also help build this course and future offerings. Hit “Buy Now” to get started – the world needs you! Every dollar spent on this course will go towards the Center for Mindful Learning’s vow to create a contemplative culture in the modern world. You can email Peter Williams (peter@centerformindfullearning.org) with any questions.

What is CML? Who is Soryu?
The Center for Mindful Learning is a non-profit devoted to creating a contemplative culture in the modern world. We’re intimately aware of how meditation can improve the world; in fact, we live it every day. We’re staffed by a team of residential “Modern Monks” who maintain a mindfulness practice around the clock while doing work full-time. Our head teacher, Soryu Forall, has been doing intensive mindfulness practice for twenty years, in a variety of wisdom traditions.
Why will practicing mindfulness help me help the world?
Mindfulness is just like exercise. It can be tricky to build the habit, or to find the time, but it’s worth it. Like exercise, mindfulness changes the way we breathe, the way we think, and the way we move in the world. Habit change and personal growth becomes easy when you connect it to your sense of purpose. You want to change the world, and we know meditation can help you do that. Rather than falling into thoughts of “I can’t do this,” you’ll build a mind that says “I don’t know how to do this, and I’m scared of doing this, but here we go!” This course will help you set up or adapt a mindfulness practice that accelerates that process, and spreads out into your impact in the world.
What will I get? When will I get it?

You will get three digital files – a recording of a talk by Soryu, a document containing mindfulness techniques and social change tools, and a recording of a guided meditation by Peter Williams, one of the course co-authors. You’ll learn how to meditate in ways that transforms your life and the world around you. You’ll find a new sense of courage and possibility, and be equipped with real tools that will help you act on your vision for making a positive impact.

You can download this course immediately after purchasing. We are planning to develop future iterations, products, and services. Please email Peter (peter@centerformindfullearning.org) with questions and feedback. In the meantime, check out our other offerings, including upcoming events, free talks, and guided meditations.
